Access to these specialty apps is determined by your department and your courses. We consider these "specialty apps" and we don’t include them in our custom image. In some cases software providers do not allow their licenses to be keyed this way or the application is so specialized we are confident that not everyone will need access to it. The keyed software is available to students, as long as they are an active student at UArts, in the form of a custom software image. By key-serving our software, we can offer the greatest number of applications to the greatest number of people. The keyserver keeps track of how many licenses the University has to lend and how many computers are using them. Our software is managed by a keyserver which acts as a central lending library. By pooling our licenses together, we can offer students these applications, in the form of a software image, for use on their own laptop. The University owns licenses to over 50 distinct software packages.
